
1. Background:
Seven Alliance is a consortium of regional networks of key populations working in Asia and the Pacific region. The seven regional networks are:
- APCOM;
- Asia Pacific Network of People Living with HIV [APN+];
- Asia Pacific Network of Sex Workers [APNSW];
- Asia Pacific Transgender Network [APTN];
- International Community of Women living with HIV in the Asia Pacific [ICW-AP];
- Network of Asian People who Use Drugs [NAPUD];
- Youth LEAD
Seven Alliance aims to promote effective community leadership and advocacy as a critical component of community-led responses. By sharing knowledge, resources, and information, our goal is to establish strong and sustainable community led responses with communities in all their diversities in the Asia Pacific region.
As part of the Community Engagement Strategic Initiative, funded by the Global Fund for AIDS, Tuberculosis, Malaria, the Seven Alliance is to establish an e-Learning Hub. The aim of the Hub is to facilitate timely access to information and relevant peer-learning and exchange among communities and civil society to strengthen the leadership and engagement of communities most affected by HIV, TB, and Malaria in Global Fund and related national processes, throughout the duration of the grant cycle. Support for this position is through the Sustainability of HIV Services for Key Populations in Asia (SKPA-2) program which is a Global Fund funded program.
1a. Objectives of the project:
- Build capacities of key population communities and civil society members to generate and use data to inform advocacy and decision-making.
- Build the capacities of Asian Communities to mobilize and hold their representatives and decision makers accountable.
- Communities and civil society members have timely access and relevant information related to the Global Fund.
- Asian communities are capacitated to drive program quality based on the adoption of global guidance and sharing best practices.
1b. Anticipated Outcomes of the Project:
The regional learning hub will strive to serve as a vibrant space for key population community members and civil society partners for peer exchange, capacity building, and collaboration, fostering the building of technical understanding, capacities, and skills development in the Asia Pacific region.
2. Background of the position:
The Communication Coordinator will play a pivotal role in knowledge management and ensuring transparent and clear information is shared within the consortium to the external stakeholders, donors, key population communities and civil society organizations in the response to addressing HIV, Tuberculosis, and Malaria.
2a. Duties and Responsibilities of Communication Coordinator
Communication Role
- In consultation with the Seven Alliance Consortium members, develop and implement a communication strategy based on the approved overall work plan and the scope of the Learning Hub.
- Manage and foster the ongoing Seven Alliance communication assets (webpage, e-newsletter, Facebook page, Twitter and Instagram) to enable strategic and effective communication between Seven Alliance, its stakeholders and community.
- Develop online campaigns and webinars to promote Learning Hub.
- Identify strategic communication materials, formats and timings to better communicate with the stakeholders and community.
- Develop and design annual and other periodic reports with support from relevant officers.
- Enhance the database and communication strategies with the Seven Alliance Coordinator in implementing countries across Asia and the Pacific countries.
- Represent Seven Alliance in different forums and meetings at the regional and international level, if needed.
Knowledge Management
- Work proactively with Seven Alliance Consortium members teams to identify opportunities for capturing and sharing knowledge, and disseminating information about major progress and results.
- Advise the project on branding and publications policy and also assist in their dissemination.
- Develop and maintain contacts with key print and electronic media (including TV, news websites and blogs) to supply them with newsworthy material about Seven Alliance and Learning Hub)
- Ensure that all outreach information material to be used by the media is written in a way that concepts and issues can be readily understood by the audience;
- Research and identify media stories, writes and edits media releases, and feature stories within tight timeframes, which consistently meet agreed standards.
Project Management
- Manage the regional project targeted to communities in all our diversity in Asia Pacific
- Ensure donor compliance with quality implementation, reporting and financial management
- Coordinate with stakeholders, Seven Alliance consortium members and Project Coordinator as the project focal point.
- Ensure timely identify and address the concerns of Seven Alliance and related stakeholders
- Assist in collecting feedback regularly from users and stakeholders to make data-driven improvements.
- Assist in organizing training and workshops for the Learning Hub.
3. Qualifications and experience
- Must be under the age of 30 when applying for the position.
- Bachelor’s degree in communication or social science or any other relevant field with a proven track record with communication skills.
- Demonstrated understanding of the Global Fund related process
- Demonstrated understanding of HIV, Tuberculosis, and Malaria prevention and treatment.
- Prior experience working on HIV and different diversities at the international level is an asset but not mandatory.
4. Knowledge and skills
- Have the ability to create partnerships within the project area.
- Knowledge of programming is highly desirable.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, a keen eye for details, good presentation and interpersonal skills and excellent report writing skills.
- Stakeholder management and engagement skills
- Skills in graphic designing and video making are desirable.
- Strong communication, networking and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in working with a diverse range of stakeholders at the regional and country level to build and maintain professional relationships.
5. Communication and Reporting:
- The Communication Coordinator will report directly to the Youth LEAD.
- These terms of reference are subject to modification based on the evolving needs of the project and organization.
- The applicant is expected to be based in Bangkok, Thailand.
- The last date for submission of applications is 26th July, 2024
- Contract Duration: 1 year
6. Duration and Remuneration:
The position is a full-time, fixed-term contract for the duration of the project. The remuneration will be commensurate with the qualifications and experience of the selected candidate.
